  1. Hi Amit,

Recently My Company changed Salary structure as below… Because of which I see all Remaining HRA (after claiming) is purely taxable and can’t be claimed with other deduction sections.
Can you please advice the best i can do in this case now to do more Savings.

    Dear All,

In order to better align our compensation structure to social security contribution norms, your salary structure has been revised w.e.f. 1st July 2017. This will apply to all domestic employees, in all roles as on the aforementioned date.

This note describes the changes in your salary structure.

    • Basic salary to be INR 15,000 per month or 40% of the CTC – whichever is higher.
    • Tax saving components, Conveyance and Medical Allowance, as per Government guidelines and limits – No change
    • HRA to be up to a maximum of 100% of Basic.
    • Remaining amount, if any, will be added in LTA up to INR 1.44 Lakh Per Annum.
    • Any excess amount will then be allocated to Special Allowance

With above change below is my Salary Structure….

    Basic Pay –> 655446

    Special Allowance –> 70869

    P.TAX AND TDS DEDUCTED RS. 200/- P.M & RS. 3000/- P.M. DEDUCTIONS U/S 80C IS RS. 1.5 LACS.

    • You’ll need to separate out taxable & non-taxable part of your salary. Assuming that your entire gross salary & other income is taxable, your 1 year income is Rs 7.41 Lakhs. Taking 80C deduction your tax liability would be Rs 31.7K. So refund of around 5K.

I am sure some part of salary would be non-taxable and hence you might get higher refunds!
